Open Knowledge enthusiast who strongly believes in data awareness and usage of open data. Dedicated to exploring ways to use data and tech to solve real-world problems and generate opportunities, insights from the use of data. He hopes to play a significant role in the open data and knowledge community to enhance its usage in Nepal.
Data Wrangler Intern
Biva Joshi is a Computer Science and Engineering student with dedicated interest in machine learning and data science. She is a fellow at Women Leaders in Technology, 2020/21 batch and is currently a data wrangler intern at Open Knowledge Nepal. She has co-founded and is involved in Kaizen, a venture operating in production and promotion of Nepali handmade products. She is a strong believer and supporter of women holding key positions in the computer technology space and aspires to make conscious efforts in leveraging tools and applications of AI and data in solving real life problems and to bring positive impact in low to middle income societies.

Sonam Bhote is a final year student pursuing her Bachelors in Computer Science from Herald College Kathmandu. She is a fellow at Women Leaders in Technology, and is in process of becoming a young leader in the field of technology.
Sonam is currently working as a data wrangler intern at Open Knowledge Nepal. She hopes to explore different aspects of Data Science during her internship. Learn new skills from her team mentors and team members.

Nabin GC is a Computer Science student with a knack for data science and machine learning and a strong supporter of open source software. A life long learner dedicated to leverage machine learning and AI to solve real world problems. He loves to explore different facets of technology and their impact on society. He believes in collaboration over competition and promotes data ethics, data literacy and data transparency. He is currently working as a data science intern at Open Knowledge Nepal.
Data Science Intern
Binita Gyawali, a graduate of computer science and information technology, is a rising female tech leader, who has been working since her freshman year to fill the gender gap in the tech community of Nepal, especially province no. 5. A strong proponent of girls' coding, she co-founded Butwal Coder Girls, a non-profit organization, in 2016 to motivate girls in coding, either as a hobby or as a career. She has also worked as Vice President of CSIT Association of Nepal - Rupandehi (2018-19) and province lead of Girls in Tech - Nepal (2020). Leading organizations like Butwal Coder Girls and CSIT Association of Nepal - Rupandehi, she has inspired hundreds of youths (mostly females and province no. 5 tech enthusiasts) to explore tech as a career. She is actively involved in various organizations, including but not limited to WordPress Butwal and Divine Youth Club, thanks to her passion for community and social work. She aspires to bring positive change in her community especially in the field of tech diversity and inclusion. Her hobbies are community work, learning/exploring new technologies, building cool things, and coding. Currently, she works with Open Knowledge Nepal, a non-profit civic tech organization in Nepal, in the data science space. She has also been pursuing a data fellowship organized by Code for Nepal and Open Knowledge Nepal.
Kshitiz Khanal is the Chairperson of Open Knowledge Nepal. He has an academic background in mechanical engineering and sustainable energy planning. He is currently involved in research about using Open Data to achieve Sustainable Development Goals and also practices as a mechanical design consultant. He believes in solving pressing problems through open and interdisciplinary innovation. His major areas of interest in Open Knowledge include open data, open science hardware, and open education.
Chief Executive Officer
Nikesh is a civic entrepreneur, open data advocate and tech researcher. He is the co-founder and CEO of Open Knowledge Nepal – a non-profit civic tech organization comprised of openness aficionados. He is a strong supporter of open source software and believes in the vision of Open Knowledge to empower citizens regarding technology usage and open data. He loves coffee chat, tweeting, hackathons, blogging, traveling and open data. Nikesh is a Shuttleworth Flash Grantee 2016 and U.S. Embassy Youth Council member 2017/18.
In parallel with his activities at Open Knowledge Nepal, he is also engaged with Artificial Intelligence for Development as a founding member and Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) Nepal community as an executive member. Previously, Nikesh also worked with Code for Nepal as a program coordinator. In his daily work schedule, he coordinates diverse projects related to tech & data, writes research & report, scrapes & harvest government data and sometimes codes. He has a long experience of working with private, nonprofit and government organizations.
Chief Operating Officer
Shubham Ghimire serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Open Knowledge Nepal and is responsible for the day-to-day operation and general management of the company. Shubham is a computer science student pursuing his undergraduate degree from Tribhuwan University. He is a strong advocate for the open data movement along with overall open programs campaign in Nepal. He considers himself as an Open Knowledge Activist who is also committed towards the Open source, open data awareness programs, and campaign. In fact, he oversees the project management for Open Knowledge Nepal while also being involved with various other open communities of Nepal. His efforts are dedicated to empowering the people by bringing accountability and transparency in governance. He also dedicates his time in various researches and is a competent programmer.
Prakash Neupane is the strategic leader of the organization. His role is to make plans, buildup strategy and implement, evaluate and adjust them as per the requirement. He started his journey of open knowledge by taking the role of Ambassador at an early stage. The team will be able to fulfill the core objectives with his visionary guidelines.
Chief Technical Officer
Sagar Ghimire is Chief Technical Officer at Open Knowledge Nepal. He is an IT professional and an open source enthusiast with an extensive experience in web development and passionate about using web technology and open data to make a better future for everyone. He has been working as a freelance web developer. Likewise, he is also a strong supporter of knowledge sharing and social entrepreneurship. To ensure to attain all the academic knowledge, he has completed diploma and currently an active student of B.E computer engineering.
