Opening up financial and economic data so people can see how money moves.
Decisions about budgets, financial inclusion, and economic opportunity in Nepal are often made with limited public visibility into the underlying data, whether that is government fiscal data, financial inclusion statistics, or the market data entrepreneurs need to make informed decisions.
This is a newer area for us, building outward from our existing economic and gender data work. We define it as opening financial and economic data, whether public budget data, financial inclusion data, or market data for entrepreneurs, so it can inform decisions rather than sit unused.
An economic data landscape in Nepal where citizens, entrepreneurs, and watchdogs alike can see how money moves, who it reaches, and who it currently leaves out.
We are building this out from our existing technical services and research capacity, starting from adjacent work in economic and gender data, and expect to grow dedicated projects here over the coming years.
