Open Knowledge Nepal is seeking a motivated, tech and data-curious early-career professional to join our team as a Program & Operations Associate. This role is ideal for a recent graduate eager to work in a civic-tech organization that involves work involving from documentation and coordination to data and technology-enabled workflows.
The Associate will support day-to-day operations, documentation, compliance, and partner coordination, while gaining hands-on exposure to data management and tech-enabled workflows that strengthen our civic-tech initiatives.

Open Knowledge Nepal is a non-profit civic tech organization comprised of openness enthusiasts. We believe that open data fosters a participatory government and civil society, contributing to sustainable development. The organization is actively engaged in research, advocacy, training, and the development of open knowledge tools.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Administration
- Support organizational operations, official documentation, record-keeping, logistics management, and coordination tasks.
- Maintain administrative and operational records in an organized and transparent manner.
- Assist in maintaining internal processes and operational documentation to ensure smooth functioning.
Data & Tech Support
- Support basic data collection, cleaning, organization, and reporting.
- Maintain spreadsheets, dashboards, or simple databases used for tracking activities, finances, or outputs.
- Assist in experimenting and adopting tech-enabled tools (open-source tools, automation platforms, etc.) to improve workflows.
Program & Project Coordination
- Support coordination of ongoing projects and activities, including communication with project members, interns, fellows, and collaborators.
- Assist in tracking project timelines, tasks, and documentation to ensure smooth implementation.
- Support tracking of grants, fellowships, partnerships, and civic-tech opportunities.
- Assist in the preparation of project proposals, budgets, and related documentation, and help maintain organized records of projects, donors, and partners.
Digital & Content Support (Lightweight)
- Support basic social media, website, and content updates (announcements, reports, event pages).
- Assist in preparing and publishing project updates using existing templates and tools.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree (completed or recently graduated) in IT, Computer Science, Management, Social Sciences, or related fields.
- Tech-savvy mindset with willingness to learn new tools and systems.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Comfortable working with digital tools (e.g., spreadsheets, shared documents).
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali.
- Interest in civic technology, open data, and social impact.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with design or content tools such as Canva or Figma.
- Basic understanding of web technologies (e.g., how websites work, content management systems).
- Exposure to data handling, visualization, or open-source tools.
- Prior volunteer, internship, or nonprofit experience.
Location
Remote work with flexible working hours. Candidates must be based in Kathmandu, Nepal
(Occasional in-person coordination or administrative tasks, such as meetings or documentation follow-ups, may be required.)
