Local Government (LG) Data Fellowship

The LG Data Fellowship places selected fellows directly inside partner municipalities to help digitize records and put the Integrated Data Management System (IDMS) to work. Over several months, fellows train on the data lifecycle and IDMS operating procedures, then work side by side with municipal IT officers and data focal staff to clean, standardize and integrate datasets from different departments into one shared system.

The fellowship has already run in Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City, Birgunj Metropolitan City and Lekbeshi Municipality, supported by The Asia Foundation's Data for Development Programme. Beyond the technical work, fellows help establish a lasting point of contact between the municipality and OKN, and the programme has since fed into a broader Local Government Data Profile initiative aimed at more sustainable, vendor independent data practices for Nepal's municipalities.
