Urban Atlas Nepal

Nepal's cities are growing faster than the data available to understand the risks inside them. Studies on flood exposure, earthquake risk, air quality and infrastructure gaps typically sit in separate PDFs and separate agencies, with no shared ward level view connecting them. Urban Atlas Nepal is built to close that gap: a data and methodology layer, not a single app or a static file repository, where climate risk, safety and planning data can be structured, compared, and built on regardless of which tool sits on top of it.

The first product built on the atlas is SmartHousing Nepal, covering all 247 wards of Kathmandu Valley across three risk layers (flood, earthquake, air quality) to help residents and municipal planners factor risk into housing and budget decisions. As the underlying atlas matures, OKN expects it to support further applications and additional cities, always keeping the core risk data open.
